UPSC NDA Exam Pattern 2025-26
The UPSC NDA examination consists of two papers:

Important Notes:
- The papers in all subjects consist of objective-type questions
- There is negative marking for wrong answers (1/3rd of marks assigned to that question)

Paper 1: Mathematics (300 Marks)

- Representation of real numbers on a line
- Complex numbers—basic properties, modulus, argument, cube roots of unity
- Binary system of numbers
- Conversion of a number in decimal system to binary system and vice-versa

5. Differential Calculus
- Concept of a real-valued function–domain, range and graph of a function

- Derivative of a function at a point, geometrical and physical interpretation of a derivative—applications
- Derivatives of sum, product and quotient of functions, derivative of a function with respect to another function, derivative of a composite function

6. Integral Calculus and Differential Equations
- Integration as inverse of differentiation, integration by substitution and by parts, standard integrals involving algebraic expressions, trigonometric, exponential and hyperbolic functions
- Evaluation of definite integrals—determination of areas of plane regions bounded by curves—applications
- Definition of order and degree of a differential equation, formation of a differential equation by examples

Paper 2: General Ability Test (600 Marks)
The General Ability Test is divided into two parts:

SSB Interview: Intelligence and Personality Test
Candidates who qualify the written examination are called for Intelligence and Personality Test at the Service Selection Boards. The SSB procedure consists of two stages:
Stage I (Day 1):
- Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) Tests – Picture Perception and Description Test (PP&DT)
Stage II (4 Days):
- Psychology Tests: Thematic Apperception Test (TAT), Word Association Test (WAT), Situation Reaction Test (SRT), Self Description Test (SD)
- Group Testing Officer Tasks: Group Discussion (GD), Group Planning Exercise (GPE), Progressive Group Tasks (PGT), Half Group Tasks (HGT), Individual Obstacles
