SSC CGL 2025 Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification:

• Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or equivalent.
• Some posts might require specific qualifications, which will be mentioned in the official notification.
• For Statistical Investigator Grade-II and Compiler posts, a candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects or a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics.
• For Assistant Audit Officer, candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in any subject and should have passed the final exam of Chartered Accountancy/Cost and Management Accountancy/Company Secretary OR should have passed SAS exam.

Age Limit (as on 1 August 2025):

• For most posts: 18-30 years
• For Assistant Audit Officer: 18-30 years
• For Inspector (Income Tax/CBI/etc.): 18-30 years
• For Assistant Section Officer: 18-30 years
• For Junior Statistical Officer: 18-32 years

SSC CGL 2025 Selection Process

The selection process for SSC CGL 2025 consists of four tiers:

Tier-I: Computer Based Examination (Online)

Tier-II: Computer Based Examination (Online)

Tier-II consists of the following papers, depending on the post applied for:

Tier-III: Descriptive Paper (Pen and Paper Mode)

• The Tier-III exam is a descriptive paper of 100 marks to test the written skills of candidates in English/Hindi.
• The paper will comprise writing essays, precis, letter, application, etc.
• The duration of the exam is 60 minutes (80 minutes for PwD candidates).
• This paper is of qualifying nature.

Tier-IV: Computer Proficiency Test/Data Entry Skill Test

This stage consists of the following tests, depending on the post applied for:

• DEST (Data Entry Skill Test): For Tax Assistant posts
  • The test is qualifying in nature.
  • Candidates will be required to enter data at the rate of 8,000 key depressions per hour.
  • The duration of the test is 15 minutes.
• CPT (Computer Proficiency Test): For Assistant Section Officer in CSS, MEA, etc.
  • The test is qualifying in nature.
  • The test includes Word Processing, Spreadsheet, and Generation of Slides.
